Based on forecasts, the live music industry in India is expected to increase at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 17.6%, from ₹88 billion in 2023 to ₹143 billion by 2026. The growing number of young people, rising disposable incomes, and growing demand for live entertainment are the main drivers of this expansion.

The success of Coldplay's 2025 tour in India has sparked a growing demand for more tours by well-known domestic and international musicians. For example, since the last few years, renowned artists such as Dua Lipa, Alan Walker, Coldplay, and Ed Sheeran have performed in India. Additionally, artists like Shawn Mendes and Green Day are set to take the stage at Lollapalooza, India 2025.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recognized this potential during the Make In Odisha Conclave, stressing the need for improved infrastructure and expertise to accommodate the influx of international performers and major events. The impact of large-scale events extends far beyond ticket sales alone. They invigorate local economies by boosting hotel occupancy, attracting more patrons to restaurants, and enhancing the use of transportation services. The surge in flight and train bookings to event locations, coupled with the increased need for event management and security personnel, underscores the broad-reaching effects of these gatherings.

The current live music industry faces a lot of challenges. There is no organized ecosystem or established procedure to effectively link musicians with possible clients who are looking to book their music services digitally. Opportunities are hampered because musicians sometimes depend on their network for gigs. In India, live music performances are still quite popular, mostly in the unorganized sector. The scene is lively yet dispersed, with everything from open mics and street performances to gastropubs and house concerts. Issues include unorganized bookings, irregular payments, and a lack of professionalism which impede the development of event planners and artists alike.

Mochsha's digital platform connects clients with experienced music providers, streamlining live music bookings and revolutionizing India's gig economy. By enhancing transparency and efficiency, Mochsha aims to make live music more accessible and rewarding for both artists and clients.
